Angel

An angel came to ease my sorrows,

She sent them hiding in the forest.

I couldn’t see the end of night,

Her presence granted such delight.

But that night ends like all that’s finite

Come dance with me from twilight on,

Until the early break of dawn…

Once you awake, I will be gone.

She whispers dreams into my ear,

Sweet sounds of which I cannot hear.

I cannot bear just the thought,

Of knowing we cannot be brought...

Together for a final dance,

Before bright sunlight has a chance.

To break the rhythm and the trance,

Of this illustrious romance.

What can I do? It’s just a dream —

But to awake, I cannot seem.

Forbidden queen is out of reach,

Yet in my arms, I hold her near.

Perplexed, my mind turns into fear,

Open my eyes and reappear...

Into the world I’ve always known —

Where truth is harsh, and you’re alone.

And life is thorough when it shows,

How cruel and beautiful it grows...

Into the end that it bestows.
